Management team

Carlyle Coutinho – President & Chief Operating Officer

Carlyle CoutinhoCarlyle was formerly the Chief Financial Officer of Enwave. Prior to joining Enwave, Carlyle held various positions in private equity and debt investment firms, as well as in public accounting with KPMG and Deloitte.
Carlyle earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, and is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst Charterholder.

Alex Sotirov – Vice President, Engineering

Alex Sotirov Alex Sotirov joined Enwave in 1998 as Project Manager and held progressively senior positions until his appointment as Vice President of Engineering in 2009. Prior to joining Enwave, his career included roles at Petro-Canada, Lake Ontario Refinery (Colt Engineering), Polysar Rubber (Bayer AG Company), Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, Public Works and Government Services Canada and Ontario Hydro Nuclear Operations, Western Division.

Alex has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo.

Joyce Lee – Vice President, Operations

Joyce LeeJoyce Lee began her career at Enwave as a coop student in 2001 and has held progressively senior positions since then culminating in her appointment to Vice President of Operations in 2013. Prior to joining at Enwave, Joyce worked in the Ministry of Environment, Assessment and Approval Branch as a reviewer engineer. Joyce graduated with a degree in Environmental Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in May 2002. She received her master degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto in November 2007. Joyce has been a member of the International District Energy Association since 2004, the Professional Engineers of Ontario since 2005 and the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers since 2013. She is a committee member of the Women in Engineering for the PEO York Chapter since 2014.

Brian Weatherbee – General Manager

Brian WeatherbeeBrian Weatherbee joined Enwave in 2016 as General Manager, with direct oversight of our district systems.  Prior to joining Enwave, Brian had a career that spanned 20 years in the mining and metals industry.  There, he was an established leader in a cross functional matrix organization where he developed and refined skills in Finance, Human Resources, Environment, Health and Safety and Project Management.  Brian's proven track record of successfully leading teams, including unionized employees, has transformed low performers into high performance teams, allowing the organization to reach its key metrics.  Brian earned his Executive MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University in 2013.

Richard Palu – Director of Partnership Development

Richard PaluRichard joined Enwave in 2016 with a directive to drive growth through the development of business partnerships within our existing customer base and through new customer acquisition.  Prior to joining Enwave, Richard was the North American Director of Sales & Marketing for Vileda Professional and the National Segment Manager for Rubbermaid Commercial Products Canada. Richard brings to Enwave 15 years of experience managing sales and business development organizations.

Richard studied at The University of Toronto earning a Bachelor of Arts – English Literature.
